What does it even mean to “mother yourself”?

To me, mothering yourself is quite literally being a mom to yourself. The same way you mother your child, take a 180 degree turn, and mother yourself.

This may seem weird to think of it like this, or maybe it doesn’t seem weird at all. But mom health is one of the least talked about things, and also one of the most important topics.

I don’t just mean one area of health, either. When I talk about mothering yourself, or mom health, I am talking about your entire being.

  • Your mental health as a mom
  • Your physical health
  • Your faith journey

You may have heard the saying, “If mom goes down, the house goes down.” Well, in most households, that is true. I love my husband, but if I’m sick or out of town, not much gets done. In fact, I’m leaving for a 2 week trip to Germany with my dad to go see my sister soon, and my husband asked me how to start the dishwasher. True story!

Now, I’ve always been interested in natural and holistic health. But even if you aren’t super into it all, there are still baby steps that can help you overcome burn out, feel less fatigue 24/7, and help you with extra rage that comes from lack of good sleep and a poor diet.
